Etoff, the future is mixtape
Etoff’s mission is to create a space where creators can thrive and meet their audience, while ensuring fair compensation for artists and producers.
How does etoff work?
A rich and demanding selection…
To join the etoff catalog, each track must first be submitted by its creators or fans to enter the selection round.
During the selection, the community of artists and producers distributed on etoff will choose, randomly and anonymously, the tracks that will be allowed into the catalog. If a track is selected, it will need to be available exclusively on etoff for a period of one year.
It’s this one-year exclusivity that adds unique value to etoff’s musical catalog.
…subjective and unpredictable
Evaluating an artistic work is inherently subjective. By relying on a selection made by human creators, not an algorithm, etoff chooses to embrace this subjectivity, not avoid it.
With 300,000 subscribers on etoff, a track will generate the same revenue as one million streams on Spotify.
A new, community-centric, model
Contrary to industry practices of using market-centric or user-centric models, which are rarely beneficial for creators, etoff has created a community-centric model.
This model ensures that artists and producers are paid based on their number of tracks currently distributed on the platform, regardless of the number of listens.
In other words:
1 distributed track = One share of the revenue
2 distributed tracks = Two shares of the revenue
And so on…
A Bit of History...
The Etoff project, named for the French word “Ă©toffe,” which signifies the qualities and elements that constitute the substance of a work, was concretely initiated in 2023 by four enthusiasts of music, IT, and finance with the drafting of a white paper. This twenty-page document precisely defines the challenges, technical and functional operations, and the business model of the project.Â
The mixtapes are the first cornerstone of this project, which aims to revolutionize the way we distribute and compensate music.
